Today we’re gonna talk about protein.

As I said, this is an ibogaine preparation article. It’s to help you create balanced nutrition which will help you in your recovery journey. This actually benefits you. Most people aren’t vegan or vegetarian, so I’ll be preparing a meat recipe. I’ll also throw in a recipe for poached eggs.

You’ll need optimum nutrition while you are in iboga treatment so you can receive the full benefits of this kind of recovery. You can use these recipes as you reintegrate back home.

Roasted Whole Chicken

  • 1 whole chicken
  • 5 sprigs fresh herbs of choice 1 head of garlic
  • 1 T salt
  • 1 T pepper

Wash and pat chicken dry, split the bottom side of chicken with knife and splay out on roasting pan. Dice herbs and garlic. Mix with salt and pepper. Pull skin away from chicken and rub spice mix onto flesh. Pull skin back in place over chicken.

Put into hot oven at 400 degrees. Cook for about 1 hour. Let chicken rest before serving for 10 minutes upside down- this will drain juice into breast and keeps it really moist.

Chop and put the root vegetables and onions in the pan with the chicken while its cooking. Make large chucks of each, salt and pepper, toss lightly in olive oil and put in casserole dish. On top of the veggies put the splayed out chicken. The drippings from the chicken will infuse the veggies and make them really good.

Whole Trout

  • 1 trout
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1/2 lemon or lime
  • 1 T of med-high heat oil salt and pepper

Buy trout that’s around 3/4 of a lb. Mince the garlic and rub inside on flesh, sprinkle with salt and pepper -let sit on counter for 10 mins.

Put oil in pan, bring to medium-high heat. Add fish just before oil smokes. Cook about 4 mins on each side. Skin will get crisp and flesh will be white when done. Garnish with a citrus wedge. Eat with salad, quinoa or anything else.

Poached Eggs

  • medium to large sauce pan of water
  • eggs
  • salt and pepper
  • white vinegar

Fill sauce pan and bring water to boil. Add a small amount of white vinegar to the water. This will help the eggs stay together.

For best results pre-crack eggs into separate bowls, then add one by one to the water. Before adding eggs to water, create a whirlpool in the pan. Add eggs in the direction that the water is spinning. The water won’t be boiling anymore and this is good. Boiling water will make them tough. The spinning water will help the egg white wrap around the yolk.

I like my eggs poached soft – runny yolk, so I only cook them for about 2 minutes. If you want hard yolk, leave in water for another 2 minutes. Salt and pepper to taste. Serve with salad, quinoa, polenta, fresh greens.
